As the clock struck 9.00 AM this morning the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 (using Covidshield®), was formally flagged off at R.L.Jalappa Hospital and Research Center (RLJH&RC), the teaching hospital of Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College (SDUMC), a constituent unit of Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research (SDUAHER) by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Gouda, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor in presence of a regulated number of doctors, nurses and other COVID warriors as well as officials from the SDUAHER, SDUMC, and RLJH&RC. The beneficiaries including medical and nursing students present at the site of vaccination had burst into rapturous applause as their happiness knew no bounds since the long wait for a vaccine came to an end at last.
The vaccination facility has been created in conformity with the norms laid down by the Government authorities and is capable to handle any possible adverse event following immunization. By the next week, 9 such vaccination sites would be operational within the campus, each being mandated to immunize 100 persons per day. The hospital has a plan to inoculate more than 3700 registered beneficiaries during this drive.
In alignment with the National Policy on vaccination against COVID-19, the District Health Authorities of Kolar has assured a steady supply of vaccine to immunize all doctors, health care workers, faculty members, security personnel, support staff in addition to students of medical, allied health sciences and nursing streams present in the SDUAHER campus.
This vaccination drive has been meticulously planned and flawlessly executed by a committed team comprising Medical Superintendent, RLJH&RC along with his core working group with the active support of the Principal, SDUMC, and under the able guidance of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, SDUAHER.
