The blood bank plays an important role in patient care. Transfusion-related errors have serious consequences for patients, including death. Proper identification of the patient and blood products is critical in avoiding such transfusion-related reactions. Most of the errors occur outside the blood bank, so communication between medical staff and blood bank professionals is essential to avoid such errors.
